I am RICH.

(ENG only) I am rich. Even if my bank account would prove otherwise. I am good at saving money and definitely have saved a lot over the past few years, but this doesn’t make me what it is considered to be “a rich person”. I am talking about another kind of rich.

Yesterday I got a 5 years (5!!!) visa extension for Germany. I am alive. I am healthy. I have amazing friends by my side. I have a partner who has been with me for almost 10 years. I am able to work part time to dedicate more time to myself. The Smashing Pumpkins are playing tonight. I’m headed to Spain tomorrow. I am free to live the life I want in the city I love the most. Life is good. Even if it doesn’t always look like it. Sometimes it’s easy to take things for granted. So it’s important to remind ourselves which are the things that make us really rich.

I will be taking a small social media break, so you won’t hear from me for a while. One week for sure, maybe two, we’ll see. I need to take a step back and let my brain recharge. I am going on a 9-days solo trip to Spain to attend a yoga retreat and the last thing I want to do is to miss on this opportunity while spending my time writing Instagram captions, shooting videos and such.

I will take advantage of this time to fully recharge. I want to focus on myself and I want to focus on writing, as this seems to be something I have been excited about lately. So I will continue writing content, for myself, for the blog and who knows, for other projects and purposes too. 😉

I am not sure if I want to keep on making videos anymore though. As much as having built a community of over 14k people on Youtube has been exciting and incredibly rewarding, there is so much happening behind that camera lens. And after over 3,5 years of making video content, I don’t feel the same “spark” when making videos anymore and I am not sure if I have anything more to share on top of what I’ve already shared. I have the amazing chance of working part time and still be able to sustain myself despite the lower income at the moment and, even if I tried for a few months, I don’t feel like spending most of my “spare” time working on videos.

Does this mean that I will shut down my YT channel? No. I want to let myself be free to film if and whenever I want to, without putting on myself the pressure of having to stick to a weekly upload. And see how it goes. Minimalism to me means to simplify my life. All aspects of it. And trying my best to remove distractions or purposeless weights of all sorts. Making videos feels more like a chore than a creative, fun way to spend my time lately, so I want to take a step back from it, I hope you can understand this. Also, creating content about what I like and am passionate about should be exciting, thrilling, creatively inspiring and stimulating. Unfortunately the whole social media universe seems to mainly run around numbers, alghorithms, hearts, likes, followers etc. And all of this takes this excitement away. I am tired of numbers defining how good I am at this. I want to create content that both you and I can be proud of, that’s all I care about, in whatever way this content will be shared and delivered to you. And right now, this way will be written.

I hope you will stick around and come say “hi” here on the blog every once in a while.

I’ll talk to you soon! Take care,

Jen

  1. I’ll definitely stick around and enjoy your content whether here or on YouTube. Feel free to create whenever you want.

Enjoy your trip to Spain and we’ll be here waiting how it goes whenever you blog about it. (I, too, would want to go to Spain.)

  2. A break is nice to have every now and then ! I understand about the “spark” and people who create videos without that spark don’t make content that draws you in… one can sense the lack of spark!
I’ve enjoyed your videos so when you do make some , I’ll be watching.
I’ll also be reading your blog as this is the same platform I write my little blog. Mine isn’t even open for the public and I only have a few readers but I don’t care . ( I invite readers as I actually get to know them) I write for me! It’s a wonderful outlet.
You are right about being rich. I feel the same way !
